Dr. David Austin Joins ProAct’s Board of Directors

Indianapolis, IN — ProAct Indy today announced that Dr. David Austin, DDS, Dental Director at MHS (Managed Health Services), has been elected to its board of directors joining 10 other esteemed leaders from the city of Indianapolis. Dr. Austin brings with him a broad range of leadership experience in the public and private sectors, as well as a long and storied track record as a champion for equity, opportunity, and representation in the medical field.

Prior to joining MHS, Dr. Austin spent 25 years managing a highly successful business, Merit Dental (fka Pike Family Dentistry, Inc. & New Era dental Group), from zero base providing comprehensive dental services to over 2,500 patients and leading the office in steady growth throughout the years. After selling his dental practice, Dr. Austin had stints in leadership positions at Meridian Health Services (Anderson, IN), Apex Professional Staffing, and Cosmedent Center for Esthetic Excellence (Chicago, IL).

Dr. Austin is a 1984 graduate of the University of Michigan School of Dentistry. He has been in private practice in Indianapolis, Indiana since 1994, and his wife and he are the proud parents of two daughters. An active member in his church and community, Dr. Austin enjoys choir singing and an occasional game of racquetball.

Throughout his accomplished career as a business leader, public servant, and philanthropist, Dr. Austin has made an indelible impact on companies and communities in the US, earning recognitions such as accreditation status in the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD). It’s an accomplishment completed by only 405 dental professionals in the history of the association.

In his role as Dental Director at MHS (Managed Health Services), Dr. Austin has been a tireless advocate for expanding access to quality health services, implementing management activities to provide dental advice and counsel to internal and external stakeholders of MHS.

A true advocate for social change, Dr. Austin is welcomed to our team of business and community leaders to offer accountability, guidance, and governance of our organization as we strive to increase our impact and mission to stand in the gap for vulnerable populations while empowering youth to activity transform their communities.
