Robert Kort of Kort Builders Joins ProAct Board of Directors

Bob Kort represents entrepreneurship at its best, as he is the successful owner of several business ventures.  At the same time, he is also deeply committed to serving both professional and civic organizations that benefit the Indianapolis community.

While a student in high school, Bob created Bob Kort & Associates, a company that offered services in landscaping, painting, and construction.  Bob then attended Indiana University studying Business Administration and in 1991, Kort Builders, Inc. was established.

In 2001 Bob was honored as the recipient of the Indianapolis Business Journal’s “40 Under Forty” Award.

Kort Builders, Inc. (KBI) specializes in full-service commercial construction.  For more than 30 years, KBI has served the development and commercial build-out industries of Central Indiana and high-quality construction and project management services.  Bob also established Midwest Wireless, Inc., providing sales and service for wireless phones.  In 1997 Bob turned his energies into establishing K & E Properties, which purchased homes for rentals and resales.

In 2014, Bob set his sights on becoming a restaurateur, by teaming up with Michael Cranfill and purchasing an unsuccessful establishment at 3720 East 82nd Street and turning it into The District Tap (TDT).  TDT has now become a business that keeps 82nd Street busy, bringing in other restaurants and businesses to keep the east of Keystone at the Crossing busy.

Bob and Michael then branched out using their restaurant expertise in the Broad Ripple Community by opening Cholita and Tiki Tiki Lounge.  Cholita’s Los Angeles vibe, upmarket feel, and attention to from-scratch tortillas and farm-to-table meats has immediately set it apart from the other restaurants in the neighborhood.

ProAct welcomes Bob to its leadership team as the organization strengthens its infrastructure to make a larger impact on the Indianapolis community. He joins board members Audrey Ballard (Eli Lilly and Company), Dr. Nicholas Wahl (Equal Opportunity Schools), and Jeb Banner (Boardable).
